Humanities Question

Summary: design an activist campaign strategy to protect vulnerable populations with thoughtful, transparent tech. Please discuss with me for possible topic ideas first

You have been asked (individually) by UNESCO to design a civil society activist campaign addressing a crisis, presenting challenges and opportunities for human rights protection for vulnerable citizens in the context of current digital technology development.

Your campaign may address any area of activism (law, health, womens rights, censorship, etc.), and be designed for physical, online, or a combined form of activism. Your campaign may target people in a war zone, people in a country at peace, refugees or other mobile populations, or have a global reach.

Please include the following:

  1. A 1000 to 2000-word written report (with foot notes and bibliography)of why your campaign is significant, drawing upon leading scholarship in the field. Expect to include references to at least 5-10 peer-reviewed authors in your report in analyzing how human rights interacts with technology in your campaign. You should incorporate the elements required in your Powerpoint presentation.
  2. Create a 5-slide Power Point presentation for your campaign to be shown to a UNESCO audience. That means less text per slide (except the bibliography) and more oral expertise. The campaign presentation should include:
    1. Campaign titlea pithy suggestion
    2. Identity of real or imagined NGO employer/contractor
    3. Target audience (+ why)
    4. A brief description or summary of the campaign
    5. Three campaign objectives
    6. Three expected outcomes
    7. Abibliography slide with your sources
